We are Recruiting for G.L.O.W.

The purpose of this study is to examine how lifestyle behaviours during pregnancy can affect how nutrients move to the growing baby and maternal and child health. This observational study will explore different groups of biological molecules during pregnancy. It also looks at how these molecules may change depending on behaviours like physical activity, sleep, or diet.

Our primary aim is to explore how regular exercise affects pregnancy and early infant health. For that, we are investigating cardiovascular and metabolic components (small molecules produced during metabolism), and gut microbiome (a collection of tiny organisms living in our bodies).

We will compare markers of well-being including blood, stool and placenta samples from those with differing lifestyle behaviours (e.g., physical activity, sleep) during pregnancy. We will be exploring the nutritional, environmental, and metabolic factors that may affect placenta function by studying the relationship between the different natural processes that occur during pregnancy and determining how a baby grows while in the womb and after birth. We hope that the information we learn in this study will help us design complication preventive health strategies for pregnancy.
