Christina Osadchuk, BHSc
Christina started her master's degree in September 2023 with the Adamo lab. She previously graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Degree from the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. Christina's research passions lie in improving health outcomes for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and Veterans. Her master's projects will be examining how pelvic health in female Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans has impacted their lives, careers, and physical fitness. As a serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Christina is excited to apply her research to her career as a medic. In her spare time, Christina enjoys doing physical activity in all forms, backcountry camping, and crocheting. Christina was the recipient of the 2023 Capacity Building Initiative, awarded by the Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans, and the University of Ottawa Special Merit Scholarship (2023, 2024). |
Abbey Corson, HBSc.
Abbey is a first year Master's student at the Adamo Lab that previously graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. She is currently the project research assistant for the PLACENTA Study and completed her undergraduate thesis with the Adamo Lab in 2022 on placental aquaporins. Her Master's project will focus on determining if gestational parent physical activity has an effect on Hofbauer cells and their subsequent roles in human placenta trophoblast differentiation and angiogenesis. In her spare time, Abbey enjoys keeping up an active lifestyle and staying involved in school clubs. Abbey is a recipient of Canadian Graduate Scholarship - Masters (2022), Michael Smith Foreign Supplemental Scholarship (2022), Amnion Foundation Seed Grant (2022), and Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2023). |
Emilie Miller, HBSc.
Emilie is a second year Master’s student in the Adamo lab. She graduated from a HBSc. in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa (’21). After a fourth year internship with one of the Canadian military research teams, she will be joining the Adamo team in search to fill gaps within female health knowledge in the Canadian Armed Forces. Emilie is beyond excited to get to experience such applied female research first hand and find ways to better understand the world of research through the different Adamo team members. In her free time, Emilie enjoys going for runs, hiking, playing music, and trying different styles and variety of foods. |
Meaghan MacDonald, HBSc.
Meaghan will be starting her first year of her Master’s at the Adamo Lab in the Fall of 2023. She graduated in 2022 from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She has spent her last year volunteering in the Adamo Lab and assisting the team with various projects. Meaghan is passionate about physical activity and female healthcare. She is excited to begin her Master’s with a focus on how maternal physical activity impacts the mitochondria found within the placenta. In her free time, Meaghan loves hiking, cycling, and finding new ways to stay active. She is an avid traveller and is always up for an adventure. |
