Dr. Shannon Bainbridge
Dr. Celine Aguer
Dr. Martin Holcik
- Dr. Shannon Bainbridge's research program, The Placenta Lab, takes an interdisciplinary approach to identify the mechanisms that underlie abnormal placental development and function, and translates these findings into clinically useful tools aimed at improving pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Celine Aguer
- Dr. Celine Aguer's labratory focuses on how factors secreted by skeletal muscles during contraction impact cardiometabolic health with a focus on chronic diseases linked to increased inflammation (insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, depression, etc.). The scope of her research is aimed at determining the impact of alteration in the muscle secretome, which may be induced by exercise, important chronic diseases linked to increased inflammation and environmental poll. Dr. Martin Holcik
- Dr. Martin Holcik studies the link between protein synthesis and disease with a specific focus on three distinct, but complementary areas. Firstly, Dr. Holcik and his team continue to delineate the mechanism(s) of selective translation through IRES and its impact on cell survival. Secondly, they study the subcellular localization of RNA binding proteins and its effect on viral infection and apotosis. Thirdly, they study the pathophysiological implications of defects in tRNA metabolism in patient cells, yeast and mouse models of the disease.
