The Adamo Lab - Prevention in the Early Years Research Program

The Adamo Lab is recruiting graduate students for Fall 2022!

Graduate student opportunities for Canadian citizens or permanent residents. We are looking for motivated Ph.D. students with a strong background in molecular/cell biology and/or a bioinformatics/computer science to join our team!
We are currently looking for individuals who are interested in a Ph.D. with a focus on the effects of physical activity during pregnancy on placenta biology and maternal and fetal health. The individual will be joining our PLACENTA project team within the School of Human Kinetics, Faculty of Health Sciences (University of Ottawa). We are looking for a candidate with a background in: 
  • Molecular techniques (e.g. qPCR, ELISA, Wester Blot, Next Generation Sequencing) 
  • Microscopy and Imaging 
  • Cell culture 
  • Experience with tissue sampling 
  • Preferred qualifications: knowledge of female reproductive physiology, extracellular vesicles, bioinformatics.

Our SmartMoms Canada project team is currently looking for a graduate student who is interested in prenatal and postpartum health and has a background in software programming and app development. Post doctoral positions may be considered as well. 

Potential individuals should have a technical background that includes: 
  • Programing in Java and Objective C (required), and Ruby on Rails (optional). 
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms associated with app development. 
  • Experience using GitHub repository. 
  • Knowledge of servers and associated cyber security tools, including certificates.
