Velislava Tzaneva - Clinical Research Associate
Dr. Velislava (Villie) Tzaneva is an experienced researcher with a broad background in vertebrate and cell physiology. She completed her Ph.D. with Dr. Steve Perry at the University of Ottawa in 2016 in fish physiology and has since dabbled in the world of cell physiology at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (Ottawa, ON) before joining the PLACENTA team in the Adamo lab as a Clinical Research Associate in February of 2020. Villie nurtures a keen interest in mentoring students and she is happy to discuss science any day of the week and is always open to new and exciting projects! Kevin Semeniuk - Research Coordinator
Kevin Semeniuk recently began work as a Research Coordinator with Dr. Adamo’s lab. After 14 years in private industry (Med-Eng Systems) and a brief period with DND, Kevin has returned to uOttawa where he completed his undergrad in Human Kinetics and Master’s in Biomechanics. With proven business success in end-to-end product development, contracting, internal and external testing, customer relations, and project/program management, he has gained experience at a number of levels dealing with various military and government organizations. In addition to the wide range of business skills, Kevin has a well-rounded technical and research background gained from working in the areas of human performance, biomechanics, thermal physiology, protective clothing ensembles (blast, ballistics and blunt impact), standards development, and heat transfer. Always interested in new opportunities and learning experiences, Kevin looks forward to applying his skills to the SmartMOMS Canada project and other maternal-fetal health research endeavours currently being undertaken within the Adamo Lab. Outside of work, he spends most of his time helping his three daughters reach their required physical fitness goals in cross country skiing, swimming, soccer, athletics, and paddling.
